Skylark explores the melodic boundaries of folk and jazz, with occasional forays into classical.

Beautifully matched soprano and alto Lynette Rentoul and Lorraine Rooke mingle with an occasional splash of Adrian Jones’ tenor, who also adds double bass, keyboards, and sometimes guitar, mandolin and percussion.

Currently, most of our songs are arranged for either accapella voices, or two or three voices with keyboards or bass. This, combined with a very varied set that strolls from folk to jazz, classical and pop, results in a lively performance that keeps audiences listening!

So enjoy delicious takes on Joni Mitchell, Led Zeppelin, Duke Ellington, Karine Polwart, Pete Morton, contemporary songwriters and the odd classical composer.

We are used to performing in indoor and outdoor settings for a wide range of occasions, with set lengths from short 15 minute bursts to a full hour or more.

As we are all fluent French speakers, we have also developed a set of popular French songs, including many numbers by Edith Piaf and even the odd Serge Gainsbourg number.

To commemorate the various anniversaries of key events in the Second World War, we have also added a line of jazz and swing numbers influenced by the seamless close harmonies of the Andrews Sisters.
